Background
Founded in 1975 by Marshall S. Miller, current Chairman and CEO, the Bluefield, VA, company's roots are deeply entrenched in the coal mining industry of Appalachia. In the mid 1980's the originally named Geological Consulting Services branched out its service offerings and was renamed Marshall Miller & Associates, Inc., to encompass the company's diverse capabilities and reflect its vision for the future.
For nearly 30 years Marshall Miller & Associates, Inc. (MM&A), has strived to be the best in its field, for both clients and employees. By cultivating a talented and diverse workforce dedicated to our clients' success, as well as personal achievement, we have created an atmosphere of collaboration, excellence and quality.
From humble beginnings in Marshall's garage to a 200+ employee firm spread throughout twelve branch offices in ten states, MM&A has grown into a successful company focused on dedication to clients and the pursuit of excellence.
Vision Statement
Marshall Miller & Associates represents a unique assembly of engineering and science-related professionals, whose goals are to primarily serve the fossil fuels, transportation, and land and mineral development industries; and to integrate successfully and professionally with government agencies to achieve environmental responsibility and preservation of natural resources.
It is also a company focused on the facilitation and design of sustainability programs and projects that in turn support the protection of lands and water resources and enhance the long-term use and viability of developed lands.

Looking Forward
As we experience expansion in our service offerings to meet client demands, we continually endeavor to identify new and better ways to serve our existing clients while developing relationships with new clients. With the addition of several new service areas we have also experienced growth in our staff, our skills and our vision for the company. We seek to expand into new markets by opening branch offices in several locations, including Philadelphia, PA and Denver, CO.
