Experience Michael G. McClure, C.P.G., Vice President is responsible for planning geological evaluations and exploration programs for underground coal reserves; assessment of the mineability of longwall, continuous miner, and surface mining operations; incorporation of borehole and rock mechanics data, field mapping, and analysis of geophysical log data; performance of detailed geological mapping of underground exposures; management of activities in the coalbed methane desorption laboratory as the laboratory's director; evaluation of the development potential for coalbed methane in the western central and eastern U.S.; mapping and interpretation of photolinears for prediction of geologic hazards.
Mr. McClure began his career in geology with hands-on training in an actual producing underground coal mine in order to gain first-hand knowledge of mining equipment and geologic conditions. He has since applied that initial experience in numerous evaluations in which hazardous mining conditions required assessment and recommendations for improving ground control and safety. He has analyzed coalbed methane potential in a dozen states and in coalbeds ranging in rank from subbituminous to semi-anthracite. Mr. McClure maintains Marshall Miller & Associates' extensive library of publications from federal and state agencies, industry, and academia pertaining to coalbed methane, coal mining, and coal geology for many regions of the United States and internationally.
